Eco House Citrus Thinner #115 Solvents must be capable of dissolving resins, oils, waxes and fats. This means that vital human organs with a high content of fat tissue such as the brain and the bone marrow are at risk when volatile solvents enter the body by inhalation. The most common toxic compounds in low-grade petroleum solvents are aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, which also cause their obnoxious smell.
Because Eco-House wants the consumer to be able to make an " educated choice" regarding potential health risks, we list all ingredients on the product label. A gradual strength solvent system allows to minimize exposure to harsh solvents.
There is no technical "one-fits-all" solvent without unnecessary health risks.
Eco-House Extra Mild Citrus Thinner combines the solving action of natural orange peel oil in food quality with highly purified mineral oils, which are 100% volatile and virtually free of aggressive aromatics.
Isoparaffinic mineral oils are commonly used in pharmaceuticals, baby oils, sun tan lotions, hairsprays and in animal feed. According to a study conducted by the American National Paint, Varnish and Lacquer Association, they are by far less involved in the formation of smog than any other solvent due to their chemical inertness. O
Natural orange peel oil in food quality is the actual solvent component. It is used in small amounts only to reduce the risk of a sensitizing effect.
In ECO-HOUSE Natural Products only low-risk solvents such as water, alcohol, mineral oils in cosmetics quality and precious essential oils are used. ...
And all ingredients are listed on the label.
Where to use it : For thinning and clean-up of all Eco-House oils, resins, varnishes and waxes, but may also be used with most conventional oil-based paint products and for clean-up of tars, gums, caulking, etc.
Xtra Mild Citrus Thinner is also the solvent of choice for fine art painters, because it has a pleasant fragrance and minimal health risk. Many fine painters also like Eco-House Citrus Thinner, because it dries slower than turpentine, keeping the paint workable for a longer period of time.

Stevenson Odorless Mineral Spirits An odourless and very mild solvent, as the aromatics have been distilled out. Used for cleaning brushes or for limited dilution of oil paints. Result is a slow evaporating, mild, low-toxic solvent good for thinning (if you want to thin with a solvent at all) and cleanup. This is one of the solvents we recommend over turpentine, for lower toxicity in your studio. (Ask for literature)

Turpenoid Turpenoid Natural Another non-toxic alternative that to turpentine and many mediums it contains d-Limonene plus some linseed oil. We have some concern about the use of this material as a brush cleaner because of the oil content, which will harden in time and be impossible to remove. It would appear to be better suited as a substitute (with limitations) for a painting medium.

Stevenson Painting Solvent Our most active solvent, can be used for dissolving crystals and diluting mediums and varnish. As strong as turpentine - use with care.

Eco House Natural Orange Terpene Natural Orange Terpene Solvent is the most potent solvent in the Eco-House Solvent System. Technically, this product can be a full-fledged substitute for turpentine, since it dissolves damar resin solids, hardened paint etc.
However, like many natural essential oils it can have a sensitizing effect on sensitive persons if it is used too liberally. Therefore it should be used only in well-vented areas for those tasks where it's use is unavoidable.
# 915 Natural Orange Terpene Solvent is mixable with other Eco-House solvents ( # 115 and # 125 ) in any desired ratio.

Gamblin Gamsol Solvent GAMSOL - Odorless Mineral Spirits Excellent solvent for thinning Gamblin mediums and for general painting, including studio and brush cleanup. Flashpoint 145 degrees F. Gamsol is 100% pure odorless mineral spirits (OMS). Some painters think OMS is more toxic because you cannot smell it. This is not true. Odorless mineral spirits is less toxic because harmful aromatic solvent has been removed. By using odorless mineral spirits (OMS), you can cut down on your exposure to solvent vapors. During a three hour painting session, about 20% of OMS evaporates in the air around you. Compare that with the evaporation rate of turpentine, which is so fast that during a three hour painting session, approximately 90% of the turpentine evaporates.
