A removable satin varnish and medium for oil painting, consisting of acrylic resin dissolved in painting solvent. Fast drying, non-yellowing, stable and flexible, it helps to prevent cracking and peeling of oil paintings. To use as varnish, thin with turpentine or strong painting solvent, approximately 1 part solution to 2 parts solvent. Do not mix with mild or odourless solvents.

Make your own Acrylic resin varnish using these salt-like crystals. Dissolve in turpentine or strong painting solvent.

(Concentrated solution in mineral solvent - 8 lb cut) Used in the formulation of glaze mediums, tempera emulsions or thinned with artists' quality solvent for use as a removable gloss varnish. Thin 50% with turpentine or strong painting solvent for use as varnish: do not mix with mild or odourless solvents.

Dissolve in turpentine or painting solvent to make traditional medium or varnish.

Eco-House Dammar Varnish is made of high-quality dammar resin from Singapore and #115 Extra Mild Citrus Thinner in an approx. ratio of 1 : 1 with a small amount of linseed standoil for added elasticity of the varnish coat. Dry to touch within 12 - 24 hrs. Dammar Varnish can be used as a final picture varnish over well-dried oil paintings (after 6-12 months) or as an ingredient to your own medium formula. Makes also a fine food-safe wood finish. Dammar Varnish provides a semi-gloss protective finish coat. For reduced gloss and coat thickness add Eco-House # 915 Natural Orange Terpene Solvent or in smaller quantity # 115 Extra Mild Citrus Thinner.

GAMVAR Gamvar is a low molecular weight synthetic-resin gloss varnish developed by conservation scientists at the National Gallery. Package makes enough varnish for 8 X 10 sq feet of paintings made with oils as well as acrylics. Gamvar can also be used for retouch. With a high refractive index similar to that of natural resins, colors are fully saturated to bring out the best in the painting. Unlike varnishes made from natural resins like damar and mastic, Gamvar does not yellow with age or become more difficult to remove. It contains a UV stabilizer and offers some measure of protection to less lightfast pigments, depending on how thickly it is applied.

Envirotex Lite is a reactive polymer compound. It cures to a thick, glossy coating in about 8 hours at 70°F, and reaches full strength and toughness in about 48 hours. This durable, resilient material requires no polishing to produce a high gloss. One coat is all that is usually required for a deep attractive finish, however, two or more coats maybe applied one over the other by simply wiping the surface with a clean cloth and alcohol prior to recoating.
