Still Life from the Masters

Wednesdays, May 29 & June 5, 12, & 19     6:30 PM - 9:00 PM

Instructor: David Shkolny

You may attend as many classes as you want, at a cost of $40/class.

You may use media other than soft pastel, if you wish, or add to your soft pastel with other media.

Nothing enlightens the artist as much as working from the masters – you learn style, colour application, effective composition as well as gaining a keener eye for your own art and a finer appreciation of great art. Learn from Edmonton’s premier pastel artist to create your own masterworks following the styles of four greats: Henri Fantin-Latour, Edouard Manet, Vincent Van Gogh, and Pierre Bonnard, each a superb artist of the still life genre. Beginner and intermediate students welcome.

About the Instructor David Shkolny grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (1992).

He has been teaching painting and drawing since 2001. David’s artwork is in collections across Europe and North America as well as the Canada Council.

Recent public commissions include a painting for Fort Saskatchewan City Hall as well as a pastel for the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Visit
