If you’ve been wanting to learn about alcohol inks, this class is for you! In this beginners class, we’ll start by covering safety precautions and how to set up your workspace. Students will be guided through preparing and working on a variety of surfaces, including Yupo, canvas, and black modelling film. You’ll use a variety of tools such as heat guns and canned air to achieve cool effects. You’ll also learn about Metallics and Opaque Whites. Participants will create several works including: an abstract, a landscape, and a floral piece. We’ll also discuss mounting and finishing options. Students will be given a handout resource to keep with an overview of information covered in class for reference. Note: The class may run a little later than 5PM.
About the Instructor: Serena Webber is an artist and teacher who works with alcohol ink, resin, acrylic, and watercolour. She is known for her popular YouTube channel, Alcohol Inks A-Z, which has helped thousands of people around the world learn the basics of alcohol inks. She is also a contributor with the Alcohol Ink Art Society who presents at their biannual Art Conference. She is well respected in the Alcohol Ink and Resin art community for her extensive knowledge of products and techniques.
Supplies: Participants receive a 20% discount on art supplies purchased on class days.
While all items including substrates, Opaque Whites, blending solutions and tools are included in the supply fee, there will be a field trip to The Paint Spot to learn more about materials and to have the opportunity to purchase additional colours/supplies at the class discount of 20%.
Bring art clothes, hand-/tea-towel, notebook, snack & drink.
