In this Beginner-friendly class you will learn the fundamentals of playing and exploring with watercolours while painting a simple, soft, and beautiful rose with the aid of step-by-step demos. Essential and recommended supplies and tools for beginning watercolour painting will be discussed, including types of paper, paint, and brushes. Applications such as wet-on-wet and dry-on-wet will also be covered. You will become a more confident watercolour artist by learning basic and effective techniques, which you can build upon in future paintings.
About the Instructor: Francis is a professional watercolourist specializing in realistic landscape, cityscape, still life, figurative, and portrait paintings. From an early age Francis has always had a meticulous fascination for images, how the world is represented in the eyes of others, and what makes beautiful scenes and objects eye-catching. Living in Jasper in 2007, then moving to Edmonton in 2010, Francis`s love of both the outdoors and the city has grown tremendously. Francis is a self-taught artist, but he has also had training at the City Arts Centre. His works have been exhibited at the Art Gallery of Alberta, Harcourt House, and the Lotus Gallery among others. Francis was a Featured Artist in The Art of Watercolour, the global leader in watercolour magazines (December 2018) and in Pratique des Arts, peinture, sculpture, gravure (February 2019).
