Instructor: Daphne Cote

Fee includes Model Fee

Using a sketchbook and pencils – such simple tools! – learn how to practice portrait drawing. Collect ideas and expressions to deepen your understanding of the human face and to add to your work process. Establish a great observational practice you can use in portraiture and in all your art. We will be working with various source materials including photos and a live model. We will be looking at different mark making methods to help with modeling features, capturing light and shadow, and creating expression. Learn tips and tricks from a professional artist who specializes in portraiture.

About the Instructor:  Daphne Côté has been instructing art classes since 2004. She was drawn to the study of visual arts, and has been painting, since she was a small kid. She has been showing and selling her work for more than 18 years. The human figure is the main subject of her work, although she also dabbles in landscape and still life. Daphne likes to dig out the beauty, purpose, and essence in everything she sees. ‘Light in Life, both in people and our surroundings, inspire me.’ — Daphne
