Paper Play: Collage x 4

Thursdays, November 8, 15, 22, & 29     6:30 PM - 8:30 PM

Instructor: Kristen Hutchinson

Suitable for Adult Beginners!

Ground breaking art movements have used collage to make personal, political, and social statements. Now it’s your turn! Over the four weeks of this class you will create collages using paper, magazines, comic books, advertisements, textiles, yarn, beads, and clay while learning about the history of collage. We will talk about Abstraction, Dada & Surrealism, Pop Art, and Feminist Art, and then create our own collages inspired by these examples. Students will leave class with four completed collages.

Each class concentrates on a single type of collage – a great way to explore your own creativity and to learn some art history at the same time.

Class 1: Abstraction

Class 2: Dada & Surrealism

Class 3: Pop Art

Class 4: Feminist Art
