Have you always wanted to try painting a photo of your child, grandchild or other little loved ones using watercolours in a realistic style? This step-by-step class uses photo references to create watercolour portraits that look great and capture the characters of the subjects.
Week One: Material & preparation. The best photo reference; understanding composition; creating a good drawing; analyzing skin tones.
Week Two: The first layers – working on balance & forms. The right mix of colours; watercolour techniques. The importance of value & tone.
Week Three: Details – the most exciting part! Paying close attention to your reference photo & to your painting overall, colour temperature while working into the smaller areas & more about value, tone. Refining your painting by applying the finishing touches; choosing the right background.
